Alex Granato started riding at age nine and began competing at the Grand Prix level at age 18. Alex currently lives in Elizabeth, Colorado and rides and trains under Teri Knowlton at Wind Crest Farms. He has competed at the North American Young Riders Championships with Zone 8 for five years, and has won 13 Grand Prix classes in Oklahoma, Arizona, Missouri and Illinois. He was the 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 HITS Arizona Leading Professional Jumper Rider.

In 2009, Alex won the first ever Maffitt Lake Grand Prix held May 10, 2009 with Mad Season. Granato also placed 4th and 6th aboard two of his other mounts in the same class. 2010 saw a number of wins including another first place in the Maffitt Lake Grand Prix and first place in the $10,000 Welcome Stake at Spring Spectacular. Riding Gangsta on May 29, 2011, he won the Tennessee Grand Prix.

Following the conclusion of the USEF Selection Trials for the U.S. Show Jumping Team, the USEF named Alex Granato & Gangsta to the USEF Long List for the U.S. Show Jumping Team for the 2012 Olympic Games.
